Dave MacGregor, ”The Jobbing Jock” here at Coast and County Radio presents a cacophony of anything and everything as he deputises for holidays and unavoidable absences.
Dave’s formative years were spent in radio as the youngest Pirate Radio presenter at the age of fourteen on Radio 270 featuring in Stacey Brewers “Yorkshire Round-Up” contributing to the “Teen Scene” spot. Running away from home and landing in Holland he had dalliances with Radio Caroline and Radio Noordzee Internationaal in the guise of ‘Dave Layman’ and DJ-ing the rock Club Scene of Holland, Germany Italy and Spain. Lack of cash and bone idleness saw him having to turn his hand to Wrestling, Boxing with a Kangaroo and Love Bead Jewellery making and all round lay-about.
Returning to the UK his love for radio stayed with him through the 70s after a chance meeting with his friend former Radio London’s ‘Dave Dennis’ (Neil Spence) and an introduction to Radio Commercial and Jingle making at Capital Radio for Michael Bukht. At some point the beckoning and the smell of the grease paint and roar of the crowd drew him towards the world of theatrical entertainment seeing him working with household star names in theatres the length and breadth of the country.
Most recently he was the major funder of a Local Community Radio Station before acquiring the last available commercial DAB Licence for North Yorkshire. His absence from radio has neither tamed nor diminished his enthusiasm for music or his fifty year reputation of being known as the “Happiest Curmudgeon” on the airwaves.
Trev is relatively new to the medium of radio in comparison to the other members of the team. Starting just three years ago on community radio presenting a show dedicated to giving airtime to local fundraisers and charities. A small business owner with his heart firmly in the community has spent the last six years as founder and chairman of Wonkey McDonky Fundraising which raised funds and awareness for local causes and charities. The group called it a day in 2016 due to personal commitments.
